MissionTo provide high quality, comprehensive early care and education for all children. Goals
Learning PhilosophyOur program is child directed and initiated. We have a flexible daily routine that allows children to advance through the day at their own pace. We strongly believe that learning happens through play. Learning and exploring is hands-on and is facilitated through interest centers and The Storybook Journey curriculum. CurriculumOur curriculum, The Storybook Journey, supports early literacy by using excellent children's literature as the centerpiece of the program. Teachers select a children's book and plan their lessons and design activities around concepts suggested by the story, engaging children in experiences that foster growth in all of the important areas: social-emotional and physical development, language and literacy, math, science, social studies and the arts. Our "whole child" approach to early education promotes a love of learning and school readiness. Assessment The Ounce Scale is an ongoing, observational assessment system for infants and toddlers. The Work Sampling System is an ongoing method of assessment for 3- to 5-year-old children. As a result, teachers plan experiences that are designed to meet the individual needs of children as well as the group based on the results of the assessments. Home Visits & ConferencesWe offer two home visits and two conferences per year with parents for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. These visits are designed to guide families and teachers in sharing valuable information about their child, explore ways to use a child and family's strengths to promote growth and development, and create an ongoing process for recording that growth. Communication & Family InvolvementCNC has an open door policy for families. Families are given many opportunities to be part of their child's early learning experiences. Accreditation Our centers are currently working toward accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Teacher QualificationsOur staff members are hired in compliance with the requirements and qualifications set forth by The Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Child Care and NAEYC guidelines. In addition, staff members participate in an orientation, ongoing training, and higher education. GuidanceGuidance at CNC is positive and re-directive. Children are treated with dignity and respect at all times. Get Well CenterOur Get Well Center, located at the Historic Day Nursery, offers care for CNC children ages 3 and older who are mildly ill.
